ISO 14001 

All hotels within Strawberry are ISO 14001 certified. This means we continously work to minimize our footprint and become more sustainable  by e.g. reducing water and power consumption and replacing chemicals with more environment friendly solutions. 
 

Plogging

Plogging - or ‘picking up litter while jogging’ - is the perfect combination of exercising and lending a loving hand to nature. Every Wednesday morning we go plogging with guests, colleagues and neighbors at Amager Strand. In 2023 we have the goal of collecting 1 tons trash. 

Goodbye to single use plastic

We are on a mission to remove all single use plastic at the hotel. Therefore, our bath products in the rooms are in refillable bottles, and we have installed filter taps, so we can serve water fresh from the tap instead of in plastic bottles. 

Together we are reducing our water consumption

We have replaced the filters on all water taps at the hotel, meaning there is now pouring four liters of water per minute instead of eight with no visible difference to the guests. And with hidden messages in the rooms, we are encouraging our guests to be mindful about their water consumption. 

Better lighting and lowered energy consumption

We are in the process of replacing our regular light bulbs with LED. LED lasts longer, consumes 55% less power and can still provide us with comfortable lighting at all of the hotel. 

Lonely Christmas Tree

Every year we set up a christmas tree that people can place gifts under for children, whose families don’t have the resources for presents. This is an initiative that is used at all of the hotels within Strawberry.

Charity Christmas Lunch

Every year, we host a charity Christmas lunch together with Allehelgens Kirke at Amager. The Christmas lunch is for families, who are in a difficult place financially. The hotel donates a great Christmas lunch and presents for all the children. Our staff donate their time to come and make sure it will be a special day for these families. 

Room for all

We have room for all. No matter how you look, who you love, or what you believe in, you are welcome here all year around. However, every year during Pride, we raise the flag for diversity by participating in the parade and making events at our hotel. 

No uncertified palm oil here

Palm oil is often produced at an enormous cost to the environment. Deforestation of rainforests and poor working conditions for the people producing palm oil are just some of the consequences. Therefore, we have stopped using all products with uncertified palm oil at the hotel.  

Organic alternatives at the breakfast buffet

At our breakfast buffet, the guest can always find a minimum of 16 organic choices. For instance, there will always be organic fruit, juice and bread to choose from. In addition, we offer plant based drinks and many lactose and gluten free alternatives. 

More green options at the menu

We have something for every taste at our menu - and we have more green options than ever. As a matter of fact, it is possible to order more than half of our dishes as vegetarian. 

Veggie Wednesday

Our employees eat well, because we have a great cafeteria with a team that makes delicious food every day. Here, the green consciousness has also found its place. Every wednesday the lunch is vegetarian - and since that started, we have reduced our meat consumption by more than a ton. 

Goodbye to unnecessary chemicals

We have reviewed all the chemicals we use at the hotel. They have been split into categories based on their impact on the environment. The ones with the biggest impact have been classified as red chemicals. We now have a strong focus on finding more environmentally friendly alternatives and we have already replaced most of the products on the red list. 

Give your old clothes new life

Every day, hotel guests leave clothes behind that they no longer want or don’t have room for in their suitcase. That is a waste of resources. Therefore, our guests can hang clothes they want to leave on a special hanger. Then we donate it to a local charity. 

Clarion Clothes Swap

Our employees are world champions when it comes to thinking things through. So with inspiration from the clothes that get new life, they have come up with an initiative where employees' clothes can get new life too. In the women’s changing room, you can now drop of pre-loved clothes that your colleagues might enjoy.
