With its magnificent and stylish design by Kim Utzon(the son of famous Jørn Utzon), and its fantastic location on an artificial island in Copenhagen harbour next to the fashionable mall, Copenhagen Mall, the Copenhagen Island provides the perfect starting-point for a visit to the Danish capital.

State-of-the-art quality characterizes the entire hotel, which, in addition to its 326 rooms with air condition, wireless Internet and flat-screen TV, also offers fitness facilities and, in particular, the exciting restaurant "The Harbour", with an unrivalled view of the harbour entrance.

The Harbour is excellent, either you are looking for your next company dinner or you want to take your loved ones to a Michelin recommended restaurant in Copenhagen. With space up to 220 persons in a seated dinner or buffet it is perfect for summer parties, Christmas-lunches or weddings.

The Copenhagen Island also offers an inspirational conference environment where light, glass and water combine to create an unique setting, and the fabulous design, modern comfort and a high level of personal service form a harmonious synthesis.

The Copenhagen Island offers eight exclusive, innovative and unique conference rooms of various sizes, with room for up to 90 persons in theatre seating arrangement. All conference rooms feature air condition, natural daylight and the latest technical equipment, and several also offer a fantastic view of Copenhagen harbour.

Sustainability

SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

We at the Arp-Hansen Hotel Group are working to promote and develop sustainable tourism. We are doing this by integrating responsible consumption and production into our business. This applies to our choice of suppliers and cooperation partners and, in particular, to our own actions.

Our suppliers and cooperation partners have to commit themselves to living up to our Code of Conduct. Our employees act based on our sustainability principles, which promote the right mindset.

We use the UN’s Global Sustainability Goals as our guiding principle, with a particular emphasis on goals no. 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). It is here that we feel that we can make the biggest and most noticeable difference in relation to our work.

UN’S GLOBAL SUSTAINABILITY GOALS AND ECOLABELS

We use the UN’s Global Sustainability Goals as our guiding principle, with a particular emphasis on goals no. 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). It is here that we feel that we can make the biggest and most noticeable difference in relation to our work.

As a complement to the global goals, we work with a number of environmental labels and certifications. They bind us very specifically to actions that can be measured so we can see if the things we do generate the desired effect.

More specifically, we have 5 strategic focus areas, where we have good underlying data and can therefore see if we can really change something. By changing, for example, the containers for soap, shampoo and lotions, we can eliminate 1,350,000 million of containers every year. The five focus areas are:

  • Waste sorting
  • From spring to tap water
  • From small plastic containers to larger containers
  • Increased focus on The Organic Cuisine Label and Green Restaurant
  • Further reduction in food waste

WE ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK...

As we amass experience and are inspired by the work of others, we can perhaps supplement with more focus areas. We feel that we are on the right track with our sustainability strategy and specific initiatives. But this is not equal to knowing everything. In other words, we are really looking forward to any ideas or input you could possibly have about how we can do even more.
